Call for parts

A manufacturing company has several manual workstations where the products to be marketed are assembled.

A person works at each of these workstations who, on the one hand, needs raw materials as the assembly is completed and, on the other hand, needs to deliver the finished product.

A person with a forklift delivers raw material and collects the finished units from each workstation at a certain frequency. He visits each workstation completely at random, without taking into account the actual needs of the operators at the workstations.

SOLUTION

BAÜP has designed a fully wireless system - Call for Parts - which allows the operator to make a call to the logistics person in charge of picking up and delivering material and works as follows:

The operator makes a call, either to deliver finished product or to order more material, via a button.
The call is queued and the logistician receives it on a display.
Once the call has been confirmed, the light on the workstation changes to green (in case of an accepted call) or red (in case of a rejected order).

RESULTS

This system increases the logistic efficiency, as the flow is triggered according to the real needs of the operators and, on the other hand, it allows the operator to organise himself better, as he knows exactly when the material is coming or when they are coming to pick it up.
