Industrial automation / Systems integration

Overview

Plant-wide control system developed for one of the largest aquaculture facilities in Europe, built by SEA8 in the port of Gijón, integrating industrial automation, distributed control and SCADA supervision.

Objective

Design and implement a unified control architecture capable of ensuring stable, continuous and fully supervised operation across a large-scale aquaculture production environment.

System

A distributed control system based on Siemens S7-1500 PLCs in a redundant architecture was deployed across the facility. The system includes full electrical design, control cabinet engineering, PLC programming and a centralized SCADA system based on WinCC.

Execution

The control architecture was designed to manage over 4,000 process variables, enabling real-time monitoring, alarm management and remote supervision. A distributed approach allowed scalable deployment across plant subsystems, simplifying installation, commissioning and long-term maintenance.

Technology

  • Siemens S7-1500 PLCs (redundant architecture)
  • Distributed control system (DCS approach)
  • SCADA system (Siemens WinCC)
  • Electrical design and control cabinet engineering
  • Real-time monitoring and alarm management
  • Remote supervision capabilities

Result

A fully integrated plant control system providing reliable, scalable and continuous operation, enabling complete supervision of the facility and ensuring stable performance in a process-critical environment.
